The Consul


Dr. Guido Gianasso
has been appointed Honorary Consul of Romania on January 13th 2014. In his position, he is responsible for the Cantons of Geneva, Vaud, Jura, Neuchatel, Valais and Fribourg.




























Dr. Gianasso worked for the World Bank, United Nations and several leading multi-national corporations in the Financial, Aviation, Chemical and Education sectors. The focus of his professional and academic work is on change management in international organisations and transitional economies as well as on Cultural Intelligence (CQ). 

In addition to his Diplomatic role, Dr. Gianasso is currently a management consultant and an Adjunct Professor with the Division of Strategy, Management and Organization at Nanyang Business School in Singapore.

From 2003 to 2013, Guido Gianasso was the IATA’s Vice President of Human Capital. He led the global HR function as well as the IATA Training and Development Institute (ITDI), the external arm of IATA which trains over 50.000 industry specialists every year.

Dr. Gianasso is a frequent speaker and moderator at International conferences and serves on the Board of Trustees of the American University of Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

For several years, he served as Vice-President of the Diplomatic Club of Geneva, Senior Advisor to the Romanian Minister for Foreign Affairs and on the Supervisory Board of Eurocontrol. He also served on several Education Advisory Councils at IMD, Stanford and the University of Geneva.   

A Swiss and Italian national, Dr. Gianasso holds a PhD in Management and a DES in Law from the University of Geneva. He is also a graduate of the Harvard Advanced Management Program. He is a fluent speaker in Italian, English, French, Spanish and Romanian.
